Lilias Finlay Supporting Mercy Corps

November 23 - December 4, 2010

The daughter of Scots parents, Lilias Finlay lived with her family in Paris during the 1920s and 1930s, attending the Academie Julian. Later in the 1930s, her framily moved to Vienna, where Lilias attended the Akademie der Bildender Kunste Wien (Vienna Academy of Fine Arts) until the family had to leave hurriedly after the 'Anchluss.' (The authorities were not amused at this Scottish family's decision to fly a saltire rather than a swastika on their roof). A professional member of Visual Arts Scotland, Lilias is showing some of her exquisite paintings and embroideries of flowers and other subjects, which bear witness to her love of nature and of flowers in particular.

All profits from her exhibition will be donated to Mercy Corps.
