In very good overall condition. The spines are a little rubbed and there is a small tear to the head of the spine of Volume 2. All edges are faded and spotted in places. There is an inscription in ink of a previous owner to both paste-down endpapers with additional ink marks on both front-free endpapers. Some foxing and occasional soiling of first and last few pps. The frontis and title page of Volume 1 are browned. Pages on the whole are clean.

A very attractive copy of this important history.
